More work then expected?

Well its been more work then expected to open my own place, but I know it will be well worth the headaches. Hope this week is less stressful then last weeks! Were off to a great start so far.

Summer break week 1 over

This first week off went by so fast. People always tell me "it must be nice to have your summers off", and  my response is always "summer time is Always my busiest time of year for me. With my catering biz and being part owner in this cafe I know this will be like no summer break I ever had before. I know all this hard work will pay off for me and my family in the future!

Schools out!

Well schools out and another school year is just two months away. It feels weird being here at the soroity house with know one around and quiet as can be. I can't wait to come back August 1st and hear the songs and chants of my girls getting ready for rush.

My 2011 class

Well its been another great year here at my sorority house. This year my 2011 class leaves and are ready to enter the real world, they are a special class cause they entered the house when I did. I wish them the all the best of luck in the future and may God bless them all.

Pasta night

This is one of my girls favorite nights to eat some great pastas and one of the things they love the most "Bosco sticks"! If u never had a Bosco stick its a mozzarella cheese filled bread stick. Tonight I am making a roasted red pepper tomato sauce and a basil Alfredo sauce. I will post some pics later the afternoon.

Thanksgiving in May

After looking around the pantry and checking out the walk in and looking at some of the product left. I decided to make one last thanksgiving meal for my girls before they leave school in two weeks. O yea turkey. stuffing. mash w/ gravy. corn. Greens and Ofcourse pie. For over a 100 hungry college girls is always fun.

Tonights dinner

It was a great night to be at the Pi Beta Phi house, and as soon as you walk in the smell of Italian is in the air! Tonights dinner included baked shells, tortellini and Saute green beans and of course garlic bread.

Asian style torta

Got this great idea from FB friend Warren Wong. It came out great and the flavors were out of this world. The flavor of the pastor and hoisin and cilantro and cabbage went well together.

2MAROS DINNER

Can't wait to start 2maros dinner! I am making my famous Tacos Pastor. I will post some pics and maybe some video on how to make theses great authentic street style tacos!

Smoked Mac and cheese

Made some of my famous smoked mac and cheese for my girls today. A creamy smooth texture of jack. Mild and smoked cheeses with a touch of truffle oil.

Food both?

For a while now I have been thinking about doing a food both for the Grande Street Fair this year. I have been thinking about what type of food would be a hit with people at this event. Every year I have attended this event its been the same type of food: Tacos. Burros. Burgers and snacks. Got some great ideas from family and friends so l know I could make this both be a success. I will keep you guys posted on the details and further info on this great event.

Finally home

Feels great to be home. I am still feeling the catering gig I did in San Diego this past weekend. It was a real relaxed dinner today and the girls loving dinner is always a plus.

Steak gorgonzola

I haven't made this for my girls in awhile so I know it will fly for dinner today. It's such a great meal to have on a heavy drinking night on the town. A nice creamy gorgonzola sauce with fettucine noodles and topped with steak medallions and of course a balsomic reduction.

When I begin cooking at a Jewish house I learned to make this great breakfast dish.

Wow 18 days left in the school year, And another school year done. It's been another amazing year here cooking at the house on UofA campus. We gained two more great employees here and have a great team now.
